The 2014 London bid, now Loncon 3, won the unchallenged site selection vote for the 72nd World SF Convention. The UK concom promptly announced the guests of honour: Iain M. Rowena Morrill Unable to Attend Worldcon

Chicon 7, the 70th World Science Fiction Convention, August 30 – September 4, 2012, has announced that Artist Guest of Honor Rowena Morrill will be unable to attend the convention. Morrill was recently hospitalized, and though she is recovering well, she cannot attend the convention. Her original art, prints, and books will still be on display and for sale in the Art Show and Dealer’s room.

All five members of the Readercon board have resigned, following the controversy over their failure to uphold their sexual harassment policy.

In a public statement, the convention committee apologized to Genevieve Valentine, the victim of the harassment; to Kate Kligman, who also came forward with reports of being harassed; and to the Readercon community. The Readercon Board of Directors released an official statement on Friday announcing their decision to suspend an accused sexual harrasser’s membership for two years, in response to a complaint of sexual harassment filed against him after this year’s convention. London Bid Unopposed for 2014 Worldcon

London has been confirmed as the sole bidder to host the 2014 WorldCon. The official documents were filed with Chicon 7, the 2012 WorldCon, shortly before the deadline of March 2, 2012. The bid was jointly chaired by Steve Cooper and Mike Scott, and the proposed dates of the convention are August 14-18, 2014.
