It's a busy week for genre books on the bestseller lists, led by the debut of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's Dune: House Corrino (Bantam Spectra) on six lists, as high as #3 in San Francisco. New hardcovers by Clive Barker and Laurell K. Hamilton debut on the extended New York Times hardcover list. Books by Stephen King & Peter Straub and Terry Brooks still rank on a number of lists, though Black House still hasn't appeared among Amazon's hardcover bestsellers. In paperback, reprints by Anne Rice, Brian Jacques, and Philip Pullman debut on one or two lists each. PW now has October's Children's lists posted on its site.

   = same as last week
   + or - with number: difference since last week
   + back on list
   ++ new on list
   x no longer on list (number of x's: weeks off list)

Columns show ranks on lists from, respectively, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, London Times, Publishers Weekly, BookSense, Amazon.com (fiction lists), and Amazon UK (fiction lists). All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.
