Sometimes you have to wonder how carefully bestseller lists are compiled. Two weeks ago Dean Koontz's From the Corner of His Eye debuted on LAT's list at #10; the following week it had dropped off the list; but this week it's back at #1. Are book buyers that fickle, did the author do a book tour during the relevant period, or might the list's compilers have been careless last week? Amazon's lists weren't updated last week; since two weeks ago, Koontz has debuted there at #9, while Orson Scott Card's Shadow of the Hegemon debuted there at #4. Elsewhere, Card has slipped a bit but remains ranked on five other lists, while Koontz is ranked on eight lists this week. Books by the Eddings, Martin, and Rice have dropped off all lists but one as of this week, while books by Jordan and King remain on only two lists this week. This week it's the Wall Street Journal (as listed on CNN) that hasn't been updated and is indicated stale in the table below.
