Of several debuts this week the most prominent is Michael Reaves's Star Wars novel Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter (Ballantine Del Rey/Lucasbooks), placing at 8th or 9th on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Publishers Weekly lists. Also: Harry Turtledove's Colonization: Aftershocks enters the extended NYT list at #25. In the UK, Anne McCaffrey's The Skies of Pern (Bantam) debuts at #6 on the Times of London's fiction hardcover list, with 1,047 copies sold in the first week. (The US edition is due in April.) Two new books by J.K. Rowling due in March are riding atop the not-yet-published bestseller lists at both Amazon US and Amazon UK -- Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. (Amazon US lists them on one page.) Stephen King's Dreamcatcher is also selling advance copies (US edition; UK edition).
