Following the TV miniseries of Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon, that book and its sequel Priestess of Avalon (with Diana Paxson) are selling particular well at Amazon this week; hardcovers of both are in Amazon's top 25 fiction bestsellers. The trade paperback of Mists is up to #2. New this week: another Star Wars tie-in novel by Jude Watson, The Ties that Bind, ranks #10 on the New York Times children's paperback list. Various editions of J.R.R. Tolkien continue to sell, popping back onto three lists this week, while the Hobbit + LOTR trilogy is selling well at Amazon both in mass market and trade paperback editions. Columns show ranks on lists from, respectively, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, London Times, Publishers Weekly, BookSense, Amazon.com (fiction lists), and Amazon UK (fiction lists). All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.
