Malik Wins 2022 Crawford Award
Usman T. Malik’s story collection Midnight Doorways: Fables from Pakistan (Kitab) is the winner of the 2022 Crawford Award, presented annually by the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts (IAFA) for a first book of fantasy fiction.
Runners-up were:
- On Fragile Waves, E. Lily Yu (Erewhon)
- Never Have I Ever, Isabel Yap (Small Beer)
Participating in this year’s nomination and selection process were Karen Burnham, Candas Jane Dorsey, Niall Harrison, Mimi Mondal, Cheryl Morgan, Graham Sleight, and Liza Groen Trombi. The award is administered by Gary K. Wolfe and will be presented during the 43rd International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts to be held March 19, 2022 in Orlando FL.
