2021 PEN America Finalists
Finalists for the 2021 PEN America Literary Awards have been announced, and include several works of genre interest.
- The Death of Vivek Oji, Akwaeke Emezi (Riverhead)
- Sharks in the Time of Saviors, Kawai Strong Washburn (MCD)
PEN Open Book Award ($10,000)
- A Treatise on Stars, Mei-Mei Berssenbrugge (New Directions)
PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel ($10,000)
- These Ghosts are Family, Maisy Card (Simon and Schuster)
- Sharks in the Time of Saviors, Kawai Strong Washburn (MCD)
PEN Translation Prize ($3,000)
- Ornamental, Juan Cárdenas, translanted by Lizzie Davis (Coffee House)
- Girls Lost, Jessica Schiefauer, translated by Saskia Vogel (Deep Vellum)
PEN America “will confer over $380,000 to writers and translators across all stages of their careers.” Categories include poetry, essay, biography, and science writing. The winners will be announced April 8, 2021.
