2020 Joyce Carol Oates Prize Finalists

The Mere Wife by Maria Dahvana Headley (MCD), Mary Toft; or The Rabbit Queen by Dexter Palmer (Pantheon), and Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson (Ecco) are among the seven titles shortlisted for the 2020 Joyce Carol Oates Prize. The $50,000 prize is given by the Simpson Literary Project to “a distinguished mid-career author of fiction.” The winner will be announced in late March 2020 and will also be granted a residency at the University of California, Berkeley and at the Lafayette Library & Learning Center.

Finalists “were selected by an anonymous jury from authors confidentially nominated by publishers, reviewers, agents, authors and other representatives” and will each receive $1,500. For more information, including the complete list of finalists, see the Simpson Literary Project website.
