2024 Andrew Carnegie Medals Shortlists

The American Library Association (ALA) has announced the shortlists for the 2024 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence for “the best fiction and nonfiction books for adult readers published in the U.S. in the previous year” with 3 fiction and 3 non-fiction titles, narrowed down from longlists featuring 21 fiction and 24 non-fiction titles. The fiction shortlist includes Let Us Descend by Jesmyn Ward (Scribner).

The two medal winners will be announced on January 20, 2024. Winners will be honored during the 2024 ALA Annual Conference in June 2024 in San Diego, CA. Winners receive $5,000 and a medal.
