2023 Dwarf Stars Winners

The Science Fiction Poetry Association (SFPA) has announced the 2023 Dwarf Stars Award winners.

  • WINNER (tie): “Believe the Graves”, Rasha Abdulhadi (The Deadlands 8/22)
  • WINNER (tie): “In Perpetuity”, Bruce Boston (Analog 7-8/22)
  • Second Place: “Excerpt from a Proposal for the New City”, Alyssa Lo (Strange Horizons 11/14/22)
  • Third Place (tie): “Surviving”, Sumiko Saulson (The Rat King: A Book of Dark Poetry)
  • Third Place (tie): “Trichotillomania”, Warsan Shire” (Bless the Daughter Raised by a Voice in Her Head)
  • Third Place (tie): “As Slow as Starlight”, Kim Whysall-Hammond (Frozen Wavelets 7)
  • Honorable Mention: “A Vision of the Future”, J.Y.T. Kennedy, (Polar Starlight 5)
  • Honorable Mention: “[diameter pi the lake solves for moon]”, Kat Lehman (Frogpond 45)

The Dwarf Stars Awards are given by the SFPA to recognize the best speculative poem of one to ten lines published in the previous year. Winners will have their work reprinted in the 2023 Dwarf Stars Anthology.
