Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award Winner

The Authors’ Club has announced the winner of their Best First Novel Award. The £2,500 award goes to Ayanna Lloyd Banwo for her novel, When We Were Birds (Hamish Hamilton).

The award is open to any debut novel written in English and published in the UK. The winner is selected from a shortlist made by a panel of members from the Authors’ Club. Banwo was presented the award at a dinner at the National Liberal Club in London on May 24, 2023, by novelist and guest adjudicator Louisa Young.
