SFWA Pro Rates and Election News
Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) has announced the minimum pay rate for qualifying professional short fiction markets will be raised from six cents per word to eight cents, effective September 1, 2019. For more information, see the SFWA site.
In addition, the official call for SFWA Board of Directors candidates was announced January 15, 2019. This year, the president, secretary, and three director-at-large positions are open for election. General eligibility requirements for all board member positions include at least two years’ active SFWA membership, in addition to other requirements.
Candidate platforms will be posted February 15, 2019. Voting will open March 14, and ballots will be counted after April 11. The election committee consists of Kate Baker, Maurice Broaddus, Laura Anne Gilman, Cat Rambo, and Fran Wilde (chair). For more information, see the SFWA site.
