2018 Branford Boase Award Shortlist
The shortlist for the 2018 Branford Boase Award has been announced and includes several titles of genre interest:
- A Jigsaw of Fire and Stars, Yaba Badoe (Zephyr)
- The Starman and Me, Sharon Cohen (Quercus)
- Knighthood for Beginners, Elys Dolan (Oxford University Press)
- The City of Secret Rivers, Jacob Sager Weinstein (Walker)
“The Award is made annually to the most promising book for seven year-olds and upwards by a first time novelist” submitted by publishers. Judges for the 2018 award are Julia Eccleshare (chair), M.G. (Maya) Leonard, Urmi Merchant, Helen Swinyard, and Philip Womack. The winning author will be announced at a ceremony in London UK on July 4, 2018 and will receive a check for £1,000. The author and editor of the winning book will both receive “a unique, hand-crafted silver-inlaid box.”
