2018 Compton Crook Award Winner
The Baltimore Science Fiction Society (BSFS) has announced the winner of the 2018 Compton Crook/Stephen Tall Award:
- Winner: The Prey of Gods, Nicky Drayden (Harper Voyager)
- The Guns Above, Robyn Bennis (Tor)
- The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter, Theodora Goss (Saga)
- Gilded Cage, Vic James (Del Rey)
- All Our Wrong Todays, Elan Mastai (Dutton)
- Lotus Blue, Cat Sparks (Talos)
- Amatka, Karin Tidbeck (Vintage)
The award honors the best first SF/fantasy/horror novel of the year, and “includes a framed award document and, for the novel’s author, a check for $1,000 and an invitation to be the Compton Crook Guest at Balticon for two years.” The award will be presented at Balticon 52, held May 25-28, 2018 at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore MD. Selection is by vote of the BSFS membership.
