PEN America Longlists
Longlists for the PEN America Literary Awards have been announced and include several works of possible genre interest:
PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction
- Sonora, Hannah Lillith Assadi (Soho)
- Black Jesus and Other Superheroes, Venita Blackburn (University of Nebraska Press)
- Her Body and Other Parties, Carmen Maria Machado (Graywolf)
PEN Translation Prize
- Out in the Open, Jesus Carrasco (Riverhead)
The awards “will confer nearly $315,000 to writers and translators whose exceptional literary works were published in 2017.” Awards will also be given in Open Book, essay, biography, science writing, and sports writing categories. Finalists will be announced in January 2018. Winners will be honored at the 2018 PEN America Literary Awards Ceremony on February 20, 2018 at the NYU Skirball Center in New York City.
