David & Leigh Eddings' The Elder Gods (Eos) debuts on 2 lists this week, ranking #16 on the hardcover fiction list at New York Times and #82 on the combined USA Today list. Gregory Maguire's Mirror Mirror (Regan Books) debuts on the same 2 lists, placing #25 at NYT and #135 at USAT. Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife remains on 4 lists; Jonathan Lethem's The Fortress of Solitude remains on only 1, Herbert/Anderson's The Machine Crusade on 2; Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver is still going strong, on 8 lists. All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats, and BookScan, which combines hardcovers and paperbacks within lists for fiction, nonfiction, and children's. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.
