Barakat and Mtoor Win 2025 Watermelon Grant

L.D. Lewis has announced Ibtisam Barakat and Monir Mtoor (Nissan Al-Jalele) as the winners of the inaugural 2025 Watermelon Grant. This grant “offers $2000 USD in unrestricted funds to an emerging Palestinian creator in the field of speculative arts.” The award will allow entry to different artistic media in different yearly cycles, including literary, visual, and performing artists. This year, it names Barakat the winner in poetry and Mtoor the winner in prose.
