David J. Willoughby (1950-2018)

Fan and collector David J. Willoughby, 67, died October 5, 2018 of complications from pancreatic cancer at home in Tuscola IL. Willoughby was a regular and beloved presence at SF conventions for decades, known for his avid collecting and the vast library he assembled over his 50 years in fandom, and as a dedicated autograph-seeker.

Willoughby was born November 1, 1950 in Short Creek KY, moving to Illinois as a baby. He attended Tuscola Community High School, graduating in 1968, and enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served for 22 years. After his discharge he worked as a civilian contractor at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, before retiring and moving back to Tuscola. He is survived by his mother, three brothers, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
