Gaiman Legal Complaint Filed
On February 3, 2025, Scarlett Pavlovich filed suit in Wisconsin federal court against author Neil Gaiman and his estranged spouse Amanda Palmer; the complaint’s nine charges include human trafficking (against both), assault and battery (against Gaiman), infliction of emotional distress (against Gaiman), and negligence (against Palmer).
Pavolovich seeks damages “in an amount to be determined at trial, but which is reasonably believed to be in excess of $1,000,000.00.”
Allegations of sexual misconduct against Gaiman were first reported in August 2024 by Tortoise Media’s podcast Master.
In 2025, the allegations drew increased public attention following New York magazine’s January 13 cover story on the subject. The story, by journalist Lila Shapiro, included additional sources, including the accounts of more alleged victims. (Article contains content that readers may find disturbing, including graphic allegations of sexual assault).
Shapiro also wrote about the lawsuit here. The full complaint can be read at Deadline.
Several of Gaiman’s projects have been impacted, with Dark Horse Comics announcing they would no longer publish his work, and some media adaptations canceled.
Gaiman, as previously reported, released a statement on January 14, 2025 denying the allegations and insisting he has “never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone.”
