On the hardcover list, Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune held onto first place with a substantial lead over Sarah Beth Durst’s foray into romantasy, The Spellshop. Our new runner-up was Blackheart Man (Saga), a new fantasy by Nalo Hopkinson. We had 56 titles nominated this month, up from 54 last month.
Brandon Sanderson continued his domination of the paperback list with last month’s two top titles switching places. This month, The Way of Kings moved to the top spot with a significant number of votes over second place Mistborn. Seanan McGuire’s Sleep No More (DAW), the 17th book in her long-running October Daye series, was our new runner-up. Fifty-four titles were nominated this month, down from last month’s 60 titles.
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros beat back all comers, retaining the top spot on our trade paperback list. Sarah J. Mass claimed second place with A Court of Mist and Fury, as well as two other spots. The latest book in Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach series, Absolution (MCD), was our new runner-up. There were 66 nominated titles, down from 75 last month.
On the media and gaming-related book list, Critical Role: Bells Hells: What Doesn’t Break by Cassandra Khaw dethroned Alex Hirsch’s The Book of Bill which moved into second. There were no new runners-up. We had 21 nominated titles, one more than last month’s 20.
