Several authors and works of genre interest are among the Mystery Writers of America (MWA) 2025 Edgar Awards nominees.
Best Novel

Best First Novel
- The Mechanics of Memory, Lee Audrey (CamCat)
Best Critical/Biographical
- On Edge: Gender and Genre in the Work of Shirley Jackson, Patricia Highsmith, and Leigh Brackett, Ashley Lawson (Ohio State University Press)
Best Short Story
- “Cut and Thirst”, Margaret Atwood (Amazon)
The G.P. Putnam’s Sons Sue Grafton Memorial Award
- Disturbing the Dead, Kelley Armstrong (Minotaur)
As previously announced, Laura Lippman and John Sandford have been named 2025 Grand Masters.
The Edgar Allan Poe Awards honor “the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction and television,” and the 79th Edgar Awards ceremony will be held May 1, 2025 in New York. There will also be Symposium panels and programming surrounding the event, available virtually.
