Bookseller Kieron Smith was awarded the Glentacle: “A discretionary award named in honor of The Kitschies’ former director, Glen Mehn, intended to recognize extraordinary service to the SFF industry” for being a “tireless champion of small presses”.
Leila Abu El-Hawa, Anne Charnock, Nick Mamatas, and Molly Tanzer were judges for the Red Tentacle and Golden Tentacle awards. The Kitschies received 278 submissions from 65 different imprints this year. A total of £2000 is awarded to the winners and each receives one of the handcrafted Tentacle trophies.
The awards were presented in a ceremony in London on November 26th. This is the Kitschies’ 15th and final year, and is sponsored by Blackwell’s and NESTA. For more, see the Kitschies website.
