The Virginia Kidd Agency/Arrowhead SF Foundation will once again sponsor and host the SF Portion of the annual Milford Readers & Writers Festival, to be held September 13-15 2024 in Milford PA, with a few of the events hosted at Arrowhead,Virginia Kidd’s historic home (and still the offices of her eponymous agency.) This year’s panel is “Milford: Why Our Town Was/Is a Mecca For Science Fiction”, with panelists Lawrence C. Connolly (moderator), Michael Libling, Bill DeSmedt, and Christine Cohen and Vaughne Hansen of the Virginia Kidd Agency. For more, see the website.
The 48th Jack Williamson Lectureship will be held April 10-12, 2025 at Eastern New Mexico University, with guest of honor Darcie Little Badger.
The Dream Foundry has announced The Anvil, a virtual one-day “unconference” for creatives of color, on August 10, 2024 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. CDT. “The unconference format does away with top-down programming. Instead, the event list is built by the attendees and to meet their wants and needs.’’ The event is part of Dream Foundry’s Con or Bust program, which ‘‘issues cash grants and other material support to fans and creatives of color to help connect them with SFFH genre events and resources.” Registration is currently open for The Anvil.
