Last month’s published numbers combined information from both October and November. The combined numbers affected the rankings of the books, as well as the number of months on the list, and their last month ranking. To bring this month’s list in line with our usual numbering system, we have calculated the numbers for both October and November separately and the numbers above reflect a continuation of November’s information.
On the hardcover list, Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros took first place in a close race with Patrick Rothfuss’s latest Kingkiller Chronicle universe release, The Narrow Road Between Desires. The Will of the Many, a fantasy set in an ancient Rome-like civilization by James Islington (Saga) was our new runner-up. We had 43 nominated titles, down from 45 last month.
Frank Herbert’s Dune remained at the top of the paperback list for another month with a substantial lead over our second-place finisher, Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. There were no new runners-up. Sixty-six titles were nominated this month, up from last month’s 56 titles.
Travis Baldree’s novels of high fantasy and low stakes, Bookshops & Bonedust and Legends & Lattes dominated the trade paperback list, taking both first and second place respectively. Shards of Glass by Michelle Sagara (Mira) is our new runner-up. The trade paperback list had 58 nominated titles, down from last month’s 61.
On the media and gaming-related book list, only two books made our list. In an extremely close race, DragonLance: Dragons of Deceit by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, barely edged out R.A. Salvatore’s Forgotten Realms: The Legend of Drizzt: Homeland. There were no new runners-up. We had 25 nominated titles, up from 12 last month.
