Chandrasekera Wins Crawford
Vajra Chandrasekera’s The Saint of Bright Doors (Tor) is the winner of the 2024 Crawford Award, presented annually by the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts (IAFA) for a first book of fantasy fiction.
The awards committee also named honorable mentions:
- Summer Fishing in Lapland, Juhani Karila (Pushkin)
- Dry Land, B. Pladek (University of Wisconsin Press)
- Shigidi and the Brass Head of Obalufon, Wole Talabi (DAW; Gollancz)
- Ink Blood Sister Scribe, Emma Törzs (Morrow; Century)
The jury this year was Brian Attebery, Candas Jane Dorsey, Niall Harrison, Cheryl Morgan, Mimi Mondal, and Graham Sleight. The award will be presented during the 45th International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts to be held March 13-16, 2024 in Orlando FL.
Judges for the 2025 award are Eddie Clark, Candas Jane Dorsey, Brian Attebery, Mimi Mondal, and Yilin Wang.
