2024 SFWA Givers Fund Grants

The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) announced the recipients of the 2024 Givers Fund Grants for organizations which further SFWA’s mission: “To promote, advance, and support science fiction and fantasy writing in the United States and elsewhere, by educating and informing the general public and supporting and empowering science fiction and fantasy writers.”

Grant recipients can be “any 501(c)(3) or similar organization… with a program related to the speculative fiction genres.” The 2024 recipients are:

  • Arisia, Inc.
  • Arizona State University Interplanetary Initiative
  • Association of Nigerian Authors, Bayelsa State Chapter
  • Black Science Fiction Society
  • Clarion West
  • Dream Foundry
  • Firkin Press
  • GigaNotoSaurus
  • If This Goes On (Don’t Panic) podcast
  • Jericho Town Library
  • Maryland Writers’ Association
  • Muslim Arc
  • Red Ogre Review
  • Santa Clara City Library Foundation and Friends
  • Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association
  • Space Cowboy Books
  • Superstars Writing Seminars
  • The Rocket Words Society (Can*Con)
  • The Story Hour
  • University City Public Library
  • University of Wyoming (Launchpad)
  • Willamette Writers
  • Writing Excuses

Grants ranged from $375 to $2,900, totaling $30,205 for 2024. “Since 2014, when SFWA transitioned to an active 501(c)3 charitable organization, the nonprofit association has given away over $250,000 in grants from its Givers Fund.”

Applications are always open and previous recipients can reapply. The deadline to apply for 2024 awards is October 1, 2024. For more information, see the SFWA website.
