On the hardcover list, System Collapse, the latest book in Martha Wells’s Murderbot Diaries series, took first place with a comfortable lead over Rebecca Yarros’s Iron Flame, the second book in her planned five-book series. The Lost Cause by Cory Doctorow (Tor) was our new runner-up. We had 45 nominated titles, down from 46 last month.
Dune’s dominance on the paperback list continued for another month, with the first book in Frank Herbert’s epic saga maintaining a respectable lead over Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman’s fantasy Good Omens. There were no new runners-up. Fifty-six titles were nominated this month, down from last month’s 61 titles.
Bookshops & Bonedust, Travis Baldree’s prequel to his high fantasy, low-stakes novel Legends & Lattes, took first place with a large lead over R.F. Kuang’s alternate history/fantasy novel Babel. There were no new runners-up. The trade paperback list had 61 nominated titles, down from last month’s 70.
On the media and gaming-related book list, only Star Wars: The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness by George Mann received enough votes to make our list. There were no new runners-up. We had 12 nominated titles, down from 22 last month.
