2024 Prometheus Hall of Fame Award Finalists

Locus Magazine, Science Fiction FantasyThe Libertarian Futurist Society (LFS) has announced the finalists for the Prometheus Hall of Fame Award for Best Classic Fiction.

  • Orion Shall Rise, Poul Anderson (Timescape)
  • The Truth, Terry Pratchett (Doubleday/Transworld)
  • “The Trees”, Rush (Hemispheres)
  • Between the Rivers, Harry Turtledove (Tor)

Six other works were also considered: Zelig, Woody Allen; Floating Worlds, Cecilia Holland (Knopf); “Primary Education of the Camiroi”, R.A. Lafferty (Galaxy 12/66); That Hideous Strength, C.S. Lewis (The Bodley Head); Kalin, E.C. Tubb (Ace); and “The Last Word”, Harry Turtledove (Drakas!).

Nominees may be in any narrative or dramatic form, including prose fiction, stage plays, film, television, other video, graphic novels, song lyrics, or epic or narrative verse; they must explore themes relevant to libertarianism and must be science fiction, fantasy, or related genres.

All members of the LFS are eligible to vote. The final vote will take place in mid-2024, and the award will be presented “at a major science fiction convention and/or online.”
