Saga Press on the Rise

Saga Press announced some organizational changes, including new additions to its growing staff and a shift in division for the imprint.

Nivia Evans will join as senior editor beginning October 2, 2023, moving from Orbit Books where she held the same title. Evans worked with numerous notable genre authors at Orbit, including Alix E. Harrow, Sara Hashem, Suyi Davies Okungbowa, H.G. Parry, and more. Sareena Kamath will join as editor, coming from Zando. Caroline Tew is moving to the imprint as editorial assistant, coming from Franklin & Siegal Associates, where she was a junior scout. Christine Calella has been with Simon & Schuster for five years, and is shifting to Saga in her role as senior publicist. Savannah Breckenridge returned to Simon & Schuster from Abrams, joining Saga in June 2023. Karintha Parker is also joining the publicity team as an associate publicist, coming from HarperCollins.

In addition to the growth in personnel, Saga Press will be moving to the “flagship division of Simon & Schuster, beginning with its 2024 publications.” Joe Monti will report to Tim O’Connell, vice president and editorial director of fiction at Simon & Schuster. They plan to double their number of releases by 2026.

Says Monti, “Since 2015 Saga Press has been dedicated to being at the vanguard of publishing challenging, diverse, and innovative works, that won’t change, we’ll do more. With the resources of the Simon & Schuster division we have built a dynamic and creative team of editors, marketers, and publicists, who will not just grow the imprint but raise the bar of speculative fiction publishing.”
