R J Theodore (1980-2023)

SF writer REKKA KOROL JAY, who wrote as R J THEODORE, 43, died July 18, 2023 of cancer at home in Connecticut.

Rebecca A. Jay was born April 30, 1980. They attended Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota FL, majoring in graphic design with a major in philosophy. They worked as a graphic designer, and did design work on The Deadlands.

Debut novel Flotsam (2018) launched the Peridot series, which also includes Salvage (2019) and Cast Off (2022). Other novels include The Silent Fringe (2019) in the Phantom Traveler world. They also published several short stories, including “Singing the Ancient Out of the Dark” with Maurice Broaddus (Lightspeed 7-8/22).

They led the Fairfield County Writers Group, and volunteered for SFWA on the Independent Authors Committee, Web Updates team, and worked on Nebula Conferences.

Jay is survived by husband Matt Jay.
