Larson Wins Eugie Award
“Quandary Aminu vs The Butterfly Man” by Rich Larson (Tor.com 9/21/22) is the winner of the 2023 Eugie Foster Memorial Award for Short Fiction
Other finalists were:

- “The Little God of the Staircase”, Meg Elison (The Dark 9/22)
- “The Pigeon-Keeper’s Daughter”, Su-Yee Lin (Strange Horizons 3/7/22)
- “Nine Theories of Time”, Spencer Nitkey (Apex 3/22/22)
The winner was announced at Dragon Con, held August 31 – September 4, 2023 in Atlanta GA. The winner receives $1,000 and a plaque; all finalists receive a pin. The award celebrates “the best in innovative fiction” and honors writer and editor Eugie Foster, who died in 2014. Speculative short stories published in the previous year are eligible for the award, with nominations made by a panel of editors, reviewers, and select readers, and the winner chosen by a jury.
