2023 Elgin Awards Winners
The Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association (SFPA) has announced the winners of the 2023 Elgin Awards, presented for the best poetry chapbook and the best full-length poetry book in the speculative genre. The Elgin Awards are named after the founder of SFPA, Suzette Haden Elgin.
- First Place: Some Disassembly Required, David C. Kopaska-Merkel (Diminuendo)
- Second Place: The Saint of Witches, Avra Margariti (Weasel)
- Third Place (tie): Elegies of Rotting Stars, Tiffany Morris (Nictitating Books)
- Third Place (tie): Not a Princess, But (Yes) There Was a Pea & Other Tales to Foment Revolution, Rebecca Buchanan (Jackanapes)
Best Chapbook
- First Place: The Last Robot and Other Science Fiction Poems, Jane Yolen (Shoreline of Infinity)
- Second Place: Spacers Snarled in the Hair of Comets, Bruce Boston (Mind’s Eye)
- Third Place: Cajuns in Space, Denise Dumars (self-published)
The Dwarf Stars Award for the best speculative poem of one to ten lines was previously announced.
