Douglas Barbour Award for Speculative Fiction Nominees

The Alberta Book Publishing Award nominees have been announced, including the Douglas Barbour Award for Speculative Fiction. The finalists are:

  • The Astronaut Always Rings Twice, Shannon Allen & JR Campbell, eds. (Tyche)
  • Pawns and Phantoms, Misha Handman (EDGE)
  • The Rosetta Mind, Claire McCague (EDGE)
  • Ezra’s Ghosts, Darcy Tamayose (NeWest)

“Created to recognize and celebrate the best of the Alberta book publishing industry, the Alberta Book Publishing Awards have grown alongside the industry to capture the excellence and innovation of Alberta’s book publishers.” Winners “will be announced at a gala reception at the Matrix Hotel in Edmonton on Thursday, September 21, 2023.” The award was renamed in honor of Canadian SF author Douglas Barbour just days before his death in 2021.
