2022 Governor General’s Literary Awards Finalists
The Canada Council for the Arts has announced the 2022 Governor General’s Literary Awards finalists. There are six categories, in both English and French: Fiction, Non-fiction, Poetry, Drama, Young People’s Literature — Text, Young People’s Literature — Illustrated Books, and Translation.
Several authors and titles of genre interest made the list.
Fiction
- Pure Colour, Sheila Heti (Farrar, Straus, Giroux)
Young People’s Literature — Text
- Step, Deborah Ellis (Groundwood)
- Sorry For Your Loss, Joanne Levy (Orca)
- Urchin, Kate Story (Running the Goat)
Young People’s Literature – Illustrated Books
- The Sour Cherry Tree, Naseem Hrab & Nahid Kazemi (Owlkids)
Each winning author receives $25,000, other finalists get $1,000, and each publisher receives a $3,000 grant. For more information including the full list of finalists, see their website.
