Two newly released novels took the top spots on the hardcover list, with Book of Night by Holly Black coming out on top, followed by Guy Gavriel Kay’s All the Seas of the World. Our new runner-up was Razzmatazz, the sequel to Noir, by Christopher Moore (Morrow). We had 44 nominated titles, down from 48 last month.
On the paperback list, our two top finishers from last month, Dune and Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert, switched places taking first and second place respectively. Fairhaven Rising by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. (Tor), the 22nd book in the Saga of Recluce series was our new runner-up. Fifty-two titles were nominated, down from last month’s 53.
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow narrowly edged out Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower for the top spot on the trade paperback list. The Embroidered Book, a historical fantasy by Kate Heartfield (Harper Voyager UK), was our new runner-up. There were 72 nominated titles, up from last month’s 70.
Only two books had enough votes to make our media-related & gaming-related list, with new release Star Wars: Brotherhood by Mike Chen barely beating Charles Soule’s Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi for first place. There were no new runners-up. We had 21 nominated titles, up from 18 last month.
