Le Guin Prize for Fiction Shortlist
The Ursula K. Le Guin Literary Trust has announced the shortlist for the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction, an inaugural $25,000 cash prize given to “a single book-length work of imaginative fiction.”
The shortlist is as follows:
- A Snake Falls to Earth, Darcie Little Badger (Levine Querido)
- The House of Rust, Khadija Abdalla Bajaber (Graywolf)
- Appleseed, Matt Bell (Custom)
- Summer in the City of Roses, Michelle Ruiz Keil (Soho Teen)
- How High We Go in the Dark, Sequoia Nagamatsu (William Morrow)
- The Employees: A Workplace Novel of the 22nd Century, Olga Ravn, translated by Martin Aitken (New Directions)
- Elder Race, Adrian Tchaikovsky (Tordotcom)
- The Past is Red, Catherynne M. Valente (Tordotcom)
- After the Dragons, Cynthia Zhang (Stelliform)
The 2022 jury is adrienne maree brown, Becky Chambers, Molly Gloss, David Mitchell, and Luis Alberto Urrea. The winner will be announced October 21, 2022, on Ursula K. Le Guin’s birthday. For more information see official the website.
