Fabergé Dragon Egg
Famed jeweler Fabergé has shared images of a ‘‘commemorative egg object’’ inspired by the dragon eggs in George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones. The egg will go on tour when the spin-off series House of the Dragon launches later this year, and has already been sold for $2.2 million to an anonymous buyer in the US. The egg, with a shell of white gold covered in thousands of jewels including diamonds, sapphires, moonstones, and rubies, was created by hand over nine months by artist Paul Jones and his team. It opens to reveal golden blades and more jewels, with a pear-cut ruby topped by a removable golden crown.
The egg was first shown off on December 10 at a private event in Beverly Hills CA attended by Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton, who helped create the egg’s design, along with Liisa Tallgren of Fabergé.
