2021 Carnegie and Greenaway Medal Shortlists
The shortlists for the Carnegie Medal for best children’s book and the Kate Greenaway Medal for best illustrations in a children’s book have been announced. Titles and authors of genre interest follow.
Carnegie Medal
- The Girl Who Speaks Bear, Sophie Anderson (Usborne)
- The Girl Who Became a Tree, Joseph Coelho (Otter-Barry)
- On Midnight Beach, Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick (Faber)
- Look Both Ways, Jason Reynolds (Knights Of)
Greenaway Medal
- Starbird, Sharon King-Chai (Two Hoots)
- How the Stars Came to Be, Poonam Mistry (Tate)
The awards are presented by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). The winners will be announced June 16, 2021 in a ceremony at the British Library in London, UK. Winners receive £500 worth of books to donate to local libraries, a golden medal, and a £5,000 Colin Mears Award cash prize.
