2020 Odyssey Writing Workshop Scholarships
The Odyssey Writing Workshop has announced several scholarships available for students attending in 2020, ranging in size from several hundred dollars to over $4,000. Scholarship applications and information queries should be made by contacting director Jeanne Cavelos. Scholarships include the Miskatonic Scholarship funded by George R.R. Martin for writers of Lovecraftian cosmic horror; the Walter & Kattie Metcalf Singing Spider Scholarship for novelists (applicants must submit a novel excerpt as their writing sample when applying to the workshop); the Fresh Voices scholarship for “an outstanding writer of color”; the Enchanted Bond Scholarship for a fantasy writer; the Quantum Entanglement Scholarship for a science fiction writer; the Horror Writers Association scholarship for a horror writer; the Chris Kelworth Memorial Scholarship for a Canadian writer; and the Wollheim Memorial Scholarship Fund for writers from the New York Metropolitan Area (including New Jersey). Applications are due by April 1, 2020. Kurt Brown prizes from the Association of Writers & Writing Programs for emerging writers are also available, as is one work/ study position; applications for the latter are due by April 30, 2020. The Odyssey Workshop will be held June 1 – July 10, 2020 at Saint Anselm College in Manchester NH. The application deadline to the workshop is April 1, 2020. Guest lecturers include Brandon Sanderson, Yoon Ha Lee, J.G. Faherty, Barbara Ashford, E.C. Ambrose, Scott H.
