2020 RITA Awards Canceled Amid Controversy
The Romance Writers of America (RWA) announced that they will not hold the RITA Awards in 2020, after numerous judges and entrants withdrew their participation. The move occurs amid significant controversy within the organization and following the resignation of its president, directors, and many members. RWA plans to use “next year’s contest to celebrate 2019 and 2020 romances,” and any RWA members who have already entered the 2020 contest will be refunded by January 22.
