2019 Branford Boase Award Shortlist
The shortlist for the 2019 Branford Boase Award has been announced, and includes the following titles of genre interest.
- The House with Chicken Legs, Sophie Anderson (Usborne)
- The Train to Impossible Places, P.G. Bell (Usborne)
“The Award is made annually to the most promising book for seven year-olds and upwards by a first time novelist.” Judges for the 2019 award are Sanchita Basu De Sarkar, Julia Eccleshare (chair), Louise Johns-Shepherd, Mitch Johnson, and Ellen Krajewski. The winning author will be announced at a ceremony in London UK on June 27, 2019 and will receive a check for £1,000. The author and editor of the winning book will both receive “a unique, hand-crafted silver-inlaid box.”
