Ishiguro Wins Nobel
British author Kazuo Ishiguro has won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature. In a press release on October 5, 2017, Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy Sara Danius announced the selection of Ishiguro “who, in novels of great emotional force, has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world.” His genre novels include The Unconsoled (Knopf/Faber & Faber 1995), Never Let Me Go (Knopf/Faber & Faber 2005), and The Buried Giant (Knopf/Faber & Faber 2015).
