2018 Andrew Carnegie Medals Shortlist
The American Library Association (ALA) has announced the shortlist for the 2018 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence for “the best fiction and nonfiction books for adult readers published in the US in the previous year.” Several titles of genre interest appear on the list:
Fiction
- Lincoln in the Bardo, George Saunders (Random House)
- Sing, Unburied, Sing, Jesmyn Ward (Scribner)
Nonfiction
- You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me: A Memoir, Sherman Alexie (Little, Brown)
The winners will be announced at the Reference and User Services Association’s Book and Media Awards (BMAs) event at the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Denver CO on February 11, 2018. Each winner will receive $5,000, and two finalists in each category will receive $1,500. For more information, including the entire shortlist, see the ALA website.
The Denver ALA Midwinter meeting is, of course, in February 2018—not 2017 as your text says.
