Palmer Wins 2017 Compton Crook Award
The Baltimore Science Fiction Society (BSFS) has announced the winner of the 2017 Compton Crook/Stephen Tall Award:
- Too Like the Lightning, Ada Palmer (Tor)
- Ninefox Gambit, Yoon Ha Lee (Solaris)
- Arabella of Mars, David D. Levine (Tor)
- Sword and Verse, Kathy MacMillan (HarperTeen)
- Sleeping Giants, Sylvain Neuvel (Del Rey)
- Sleep State Interrupt, T.C. Weber (See Sharp)
The award honors the best first SF/fantasy/horror novel of the year, and “includes a framed award document and, for the novel’s author, a check for $1,000 and an invitation to be the Compton Crook Guest at Balticon for two years.” The award will be presented at Balticon 51, held May 26-29, 2017 at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore MD. Selection is by vote of the BSFS membership.
