Carnegie and Greenaway Medal Shortlists

The shortlists for the Carnegie Medal for best children’s book and the Kate Greenaway Medal for best illustrations in a children’s book in the UK have been announced. Titles of of SF/F interest are listed below.

Carnegie Medal

• The Lie Tree, Frances Hardinge (Macmillan)
• The Rest of Us Just Live Here, Patrick Ness (Walker)
• Five Children on the Western Front, Kate Saunders (Faber)
• The Ghosts of Heaven, Marcus Sedgwick (Indigo)

Greenaway Medal

• The Sleeper and the Spindle, Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Chris Riddell (Bloomsbury)

The awards are presented by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. The winners will be announced June 20, 2016 in a ceremony at the British Library in London. For full lists, see the Carnegie Greenaway website.
