National Book Award Longlist for Young People’s Literature

The longlist for the prestigious National Book Award for Young People’s Literature has been announced and includes several genre titles: The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp by Kathi Appelt (Simon & Schuster), middle-grade novel Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures by Kate DiCamillo (Candlewick), A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff (Penguin), The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson (Scholastic), Far Far Away by Tom McNeal (Random House),  and The Real Boy by Anne Ursu (HarperCollins). Genre writer David Levithan’s Two Boys Kissing (Random House) is also on the list, but the title is not SF or fantasy.

Nominees in other categories will be announced later this week. Winners will be announced November 20, 2013. For more, see the National Book Award site.
