Macmillan Films
Macmillan Publishers has announced the launch of Macmillan films, a new division run by Thomas Dunne editor Brendan Deneen, who was a Hollywood development and production executive before joining the publishing business.
They may adapt books published by various Macmillan divisions, but mostly plan to develop new ideas and hire writers to implement them. Deneen says, “We are mostly looking to develop book ideas that work both as novels and movies and TV shows. We will develop the ideas in-house and hire writers who’ll share in the success of the projects.”
Their first project is an adaptation of The Tempest by Julie Cross, a forthcoming novel from Thomas Dunne about a teenage time traveler, to be co-produced with Summit Entertainment.
