2010 Tiptree Award Winner
Dubravka Ugresic’s Baba Yaga Laid an Egg (Canongate) is the winner of the 2010 James Tiptree, Jr. Award, given annually to works of science fiction or fantasy that explore and expand gender roles. Ugresic will receive $1,000 in prize money, original artwork created to honor the winning work, and chocolate.
The Tiptree jury released an “honor list” recognizing other noteworthy works:

- The Secret Feminist Cabal, Helen Merrick (Aqueduct)
- Who Fears Death, Nnedi Okorafor (DAW)
- Living with Ghosts, Kari Sperring (DAW)
- The Colony, Jillian Weise (Soft Skull)
Jurors were Penny Hill (chair), Euan Bear, Jessa Crispin, Alice Sola Kim, and Lawrence Schimel.
