The Odyssey Writing Workshop has announced several scholarships available for students attending in 2018.
The Miskatonic Scholarship, funded by George R.R. Martin, covers full tuition, textbook, and housing costs. It will be awarded to a promising new writer of Lovecraftian cosmic horror. The winner will be selected by a panel of three judges.
The Parasite Publications Character Awards, funded by Sara King, will provide three scholarships in the amounts of $2,025, $500, and $300. They “will be awarded to the three members of the incoming class who are deemed extraordinarily strong character writers, creating powerful, emotional characters that grab the reader and don’t let go.”
The Donald A. and Elsie B. Wollheim Memorial Scholarship Fund, administered by the New York Science Fiction Society (the Lunarians), is available to applicants “from the New York Metropolitan Area (including New Jersey).” The amount of the scholarship varies according to need and availability.
The Odyssey Workshop will be held June 4 – July 13, 2018 at Saint Anselm College in Manchester NH. Application deadline to the workshop is April 7, 2018. Guest lecturers include E. C. Ambrose, Scott H. Andrews, Gary A. Braunbeck, Theodora Goss, Elizabeth Hand, Nisi Shawl, and Meagan Spooner.
