Previously, we had Henry Lien read the first chapter of Peasprout Chen Today we are pleased to show Hannah Yang reading “A Monster in the Shape of a Boy“, a short story published in Apex Magazine and anthologized in The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy & Horror: Volume 4 . This story was a 2023 Locus Award finalist!
Hannah Yang is a speculative fiction author who writes stories about monsters, metamorphosis, and feminine rage. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Analog, Apex, Clarkesworld, Fantasy, and multiple Year’s Best anthologies. Two of her stories have been 2023 Locus Award finalists: “A Monster in the Shape of a Boy” (Apex 5/22) and “Inheritance” (Analog 9-10/22). She has a BA in Economics from Yale University and works in philanthropy research. When she’s not busy writing, you can find her painting watercolors, playing guitar, or rock climbing.
